The Department of Cell and Developmental Biology (former Department ofHistology and Embryology) has a long history in Academic and Research Activities. We focus on:
Undergraduate Courses
Graduate Courses
Scientific Research
Our Undergraduate courses include Cell and Tissue Biology, General Histology and Embryology to students of the Biomedical and Biological Sciences Institute of the University of São Paulo.
Our Graduate Program was founded in 1972, and its main goal is to train students for independent research and critical thinking, so as to enable them to progress towards an academic or research career.
The Scientific Research activities of the Department are focused on Cell and Tissue Biology, utilizing “in situ” methodologies, such as: Confocal and Electron Microscopy, Immunocytochemistry, Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. We feature among our imaging equipment Scanning and Trasmission Electron Microscopes and Confocal Microscopes. We also have a Central Facility for Molecular Biology and Biochemistry that include HPLC, Phosphoimager, Ultracentrifuges, and multiple PCR thermocyclers.
The Department is currently composed of 25 Faculty Members and 24 members of the Permanent Staff.
