Laboratory for Electron Microscopy
The laboratory possesses two transmission electron microscopes (Jeol 100 CXII -accelerating voltage up to 100kV, and Jeol 1010 -accelerating voltage up to 100kV with a CCD camera for image capture), and one scanning electron microscope (Jeol 6100 -accelerating voltage up to 30 kV), besides all the necessary facilities for electron microscopy processing of biological specimens.
Animal house
The Department’s animal house holds mice, rats, Calomys and chicken in an area of ca. 170m2 of which five rooms contain small mammals and one holds chicken. The total capacity is of 2,000 rodents.
The animal house has air conditioning for temperature and humidity control of as well as timers for light control.
The animal house holds animals, especially rats and mice of fourteen laboratories of the Department.
